Lynne took her first watercolor class to learn painting techniques for her photographic art, but she fell in love with the flow of water on paper and its magical attraction to pigment. She never went back to photography.
Lynne paints in a semi-abstract, expressionist style that transforms photographic representation into magic and mystery. She has a deft hand with the “loose” style in watercolor much sought after.
Ever evolving her practice, she carries her expressionistic style to other mediums such mixed media, oil and encaustic.
“artists solve problems, so failures are a gift”
While I started out in watercolors, I’m in constant exploration with mixed media, oils and Encaustic media. My subjects and style change as I’m inspired by new challenges, techniques, teachings and whatever I’m reading at the time. I’m not able to sit still, dig in and call it good enough. My wandering spirit has to run and roam, explore new spaces, places, feelings and interests. It’s the journey that matters most to me. If the journey invigorates so will the art.
I paint subjects that move my soul and spirit. My style is more mystical/magical than photographic, colorful and expressive. I’m a lover of the curved line, with a dash of texture, tension and a whole lot of color. You can find me anywhere on the net as @lynnefurrer.
